How much does interior painting cost in Charlotte?

Our current cost guide uses $1.50–$4.00 per square foot as a broad planning range, with a standard walls-only room around $350–$800. Those numbers are a starting point for a conversation. They are not a substitute for identifying the rooms, surfaces, and preparation in your own property.

A room with sound walls and straightforward access is different from a two-story space with repairs, detailed trim, and furniture to protect. The calculator gives you a range to begin planning; the walkthrough turns that plan into an itemized scope.

What changes the price of an interior repaint?

The surfaces you actually want painted

Walls-only is a different project from walls, ceilings, baseboards, doors, and closets. Name those surfaces before comparing prices. The estimator includes these selections in your request so we can review and quote the additional surfaces.

Preparation and existing condition

Scuffs and small nail holes are different from damaged drywall, stains, loose coatings, or wallpaper removal. Show us the areas that concern you. We can discuss what preparation belongs in the painting scope and whether another repair needs to happen first.

Height, layout, and detail

Two homes with the same floor area can have very different wall areas. Tall ceilings, open stairwells, built-ins, detailed trim, and many doorways affect the work. A floor-area shortcut is useful for early planning but cannot measure those differences.

Furniture, access, and daily life

Tell us whether the home will be occupied, empty, or between tenants. Discuss furniture, valuables, pets, room access, and any fixed deadlines. A clear work sequence helps everyone understand what will be available each day. Read more about staying home during interior painting.

Floor square footage is not painted wall area.

A 12-by-12-foot room has 144 square feet of floor area. Its wall area depends on the perimeter and height, minus openings as appropriate. That is why two “144 square foot rooms” may not require the same amount of work.

Use the combined floor area of the rooms in your project for this broad planning tool. At your estimate, we review the actual surfaces and access instead of treating that shortcut as a final measurement.

Compare the scope before you compare the total.

Ask each painter to identify the included surfaces, preparation, products, finish, protection, cleanup, and exclusions. Review how changes or unexpected repairs would be handled. A short quote that leaves those details open can be difficult to compare with a complete proposal.

  • Are ceilings, trim, doors, and closets included?
  • Which repairs and preparation steps are identified?
  • What paint and sheen are proposed?
  • How will access and furniture protection work?
  • What timing, payment, and applicable warranty terms are written down?

Use our painting estimate checklist to organize the comparison.

Interior painting cost questions

Does the calculator give me a final quote?

No. It multiplies your project’s approximate floor area by our published $1.50–$4.00 planning range. A written estimate requires a review of the surfaces, preparation, access, and included work.

Why doesn’t checking “ceilings” add a fixed price?

Ceiling area, height, texture, condition, and access vary. We include that selection in your request so it can be quoted properly, rather than presenting an unsupported flat add-on.

Can I use my entire home’s square footage?

Only if all of that area is part of the project. For selected rooms, use their combined floor area. Unpainted spaces, garages, or other excluded areas should not automatically be included.

Do you paint outside Charlotte?

Yes. We serve nearby North Carolina and South Carolina communities. Check our service-area directory, and contact us to confirm availability for your address.

Do I have to share my email to see the range?

No. The planning range is available without contact information. Send a request only when you would like us to follow up about your project.
